Stabilise
Regain immediate control over cash and urgent operational pressure.
Get clear sight of cash, accelerate collections, pause non-essential spend, and communicate with the creditors that matter most. The goal is buying enough time to think clearly.
Objective
Regain immediate control over cash and urgent operational pressure.
Key questions
- 01Do we know our exact cash position today and for the next 4–8 weeks?
- 02Which receipts can realistically be collected in the next 30 days?
- 03Which liabilities are most urgent, and who needs to be spoken to this week?
- 04What spend can stop today without harming the core operation?
Typical pressure points
- Cash visibility is patchy or out of date
- Debtors are slow and unchased
- Overdue HMRC or supplier balances are unaddressed
- Non-essential spend continues by default
Practical actions
- 01Produce a simple weekly cash position (opening cash, expected in, expected out)
- 02Prioritise collections on the largest, most current debts
- 03List every liability by urgency and amount, and note who owes the conversation
- 04Stop or pause discretionary spend and identify payments that are operationally critical or legally time-sensitive. If the business cannot meet all liabilities as they fall due, seek appropriate professional advice before making material payment-priority decisions.
- 05Open calm, factual communication with key creditors before they chase
